Devon Allman’s Honeytribe opened up for his father’s side band Gregg Allman and Friends on 01/09/2009 in Harrisburg, PA. Photos of Greg Allman and Friends will be posted soon so check back soon.
Devon Allman’s Honeytribe is a blues trio spits fiery blues-rock in similar fashion that old school Gov’t Mule did. Heavy rumbling bass and pounding drums with scorching guitar licks. To be a successful blues power trio each musician has a large responsibility to fill in the sound, especially during guitar solos. Just listen to Cream or the Jimi Hendrix Experience for reference……
Devon came out with a beautiful Gibson Les Paul with an note and signature from the man Les Paul himself on it. Even though the guitar dawns a signature by one of the most legendary guitarists ever, he made it clear on the first note that this guitar was meant to be played and not kept as a souvenir. Devon’s voice is similar to Gregg Allman’s at an earlier age, a nice smooth tone with a touch of blues growl. George Potsos beat his bass senseless on some of the songs proving you can play loud and sound good.
I did not know the setlist since it was my first time (and certainly not my last) seeing them. So I am not sure which songs they played other than a great version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “One Way Out” with Scott Sharrard as guest on the guitar. If anyone does know the setlist, please email it to me.
After the show Devon hung out in the theatre’s lobby for quite a while talking to fans, signing autographs, and sharing laughs…. A nice guy, there are a lot of musicians out there that can learn a lot from people like this. Hopefully Devon Allman and the band had as good of a time as the audience did so they come back to the area soon.

Aaron, I shoot Canon DSLRs my best piece of advice is don’t get too hung up into camera models.
The lens is the most important thing. If the glass that the camera sees through is junk, so are the photos.
