This set of photos are not a “best of” but rather just some of my favorites from the last year shown in no particular order.

In 2008 I saw over 50 concerts/shows which averages out to be about one per week but it actually played out to be more like 2 or 3 in a week and then a few weeks off.  I got to see many of my favorite big name artists including Pearl Jam (twice), Allman Brothers Band, My Morning Jacket (three times), Derek Trucks Band (twice), and Gov’t Mule.

I saw many bands that I had previously never heard of prior but I am now a big fan of, to name a few: Hackensaw Boys, Hoots and Hellmouth, American Babies, Ryan Bingham, and Alexi Murdoch.  I also got to see and experience some area bands that really impressed with as equally as much including The Shackeltons, The Thrushes, and Kheris.

I can only hope that 2009 yields as great of a crop of concerts as 2008 did.  It looks promising too…. This will be the Allman Brothers Band 40th Year anniversary and they have promised that they will be celebrating in a large way in 2009 beginning with their annual stay at New York City’s Beacon Theatre in March.  Then on top of that, The Dead have announced that they will be touring in 2009 with help of Warren Haynes (also of Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule) to fill Jerry Garcia’s duties.  Somehow I feel this is just the beginning of big concert announcements for the year.  Out with the old and in with the new, here is to 2009!
