10-01-2008 Rusted Root
Rusted Root played Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore, MD on 10-01-2008. Rusted Root hammered through a long set of fan favorites as well as new material for an upcoming album for which a release date is still unknown… But it will likely be coming out soon from what I gather.
Rusted Root shows are always fun and the music is full of depth and texture with nearly everysong having three percussionists at the same time. The highlight, for me, was their cover of the Neil Young rocker “Cinnoman Girl”. I have heard their live cover of Mr. Young’s “Powderfinger” before but never “Cinnoman Girl”. The cover provided a change in pace from most of the setlist since it is much more of a straight up rock song than most of Rusted Roots’ material.
I grabbed a set list after the show, but during the show I followed the setlist and they did deviate from it. For starters, the setlist has “Welcome To My Party” on it but when they were about to play it they asked if we prefered to hear that or “Blue Diamonds” and “Blue Diamonds” won. But additionally, the second set while most or all the songs were played they were not played in the order as listed so the setlist I have show below is bascially an out of order setlist.
Setlist as shown on the official setlist was is as follows:
Dance
Back To The Earth
Lost In The Crowd
Crucible
Weary
Martyr
Cruel Sun
Garbage
Laugh As The Sun
Cat Turned Blue
Voodoo
Suspicious Minds (Elvis Cover)
———
Grace

Rodeo
Drivin’ Reprise
Welcome To My Party (Blue Diamonds was played instead)
Animals
Send Me On My Way
