On 06/15/2008 Rusted Root took time out of their busy day to have promo photos taken in between two shows that they played that evening.  The whole band, family, and crew were a great bunch to work with the whole time.

Thanks again Rusted Root!

05-31-2008 The American Babies

The American Babies played Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, PA on 05/31/2008 as part of their 11th anniversary festivities. This is the second time seeing the American Babies at ABC this year and the performances only get better.

Tom Hamilton was previously in a Philadelphia the based jam band, Brothers Past, but his new creation is a folky/bluesy rock band featuring his brother Jim on bass, Tom Metzger on guitar, and the incredible Joe Russo on drums. American Babies are playing and have already played the nations largest festivals like Jam On The River, Wakarusa, Gathering of the Vibes, High Sierra Music Festival, as well as SXSW.

Prior to their set I met with the full band out on the deck relaxing and having some pre-set drinks. They are all very laid back and enjoy conversing and joking around with the fans.  Bands that have time for their fans leave a lasting impression on them and builds a fan base.  I will never forget meeting and talking to Derek Trucks the first 10 or 15 times :) each time he had become more and more popular yet never had an attitude like many do.

The American Babies went on stage shortly after 8:00 PM and played most of their S/T debut album.  These guys keep getting tighter as they play which also allows for a little extra soloing than they were playing in the start. It is a folky and refreshing set of music they play not as much jamming as their two other groups they are part of (Benevento Russo Duo and Brothers Past).

I look forward to seeing The American Babies a third time this year with any luck.  Thanks for your time Tom!

05-31-2008 Mike Doughty

Click Here to see the photos.

Mike Doughty (former frontman of Soul Coughing) played Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, PA on 05/31/2008 as part of their 11th anniversary festivities. This is the second time seeing the Mike Doughty this year (actually only about 2 months apart) and this was by far better than the Lancaster show.

This show was a unique show in that the set was stripped down to only Andrew “Scrap” Livingston on the electric guitar and Mike Doughty on acoustic sitting on stools which gave a more intimate setting. This show also had better sound and it was not cursed by ear monitor difficulties like the previous one.

He played all his solo career radio hits including the newest installements of “Fort hood” and ”27 Jennifers”.  Rounding it out were “Looking At The Word From The Bottom Of A Well”, “Busting Up A Starbucks”, “Madeline And Nine”, Tremendous Brunettes”, etc.

After his stripped down set, Harrisburg was treated to another one off site, Mike Doughty DJ-ing house/dance music until the wee hours.

If anyone has a full setlist please let me know.
